To make a lathe whether its mini or a bigger one, definitely the passion to make is imperative. The itch to create new things was there within me always.
Prototype designing has to be cost effective at the same time what we create should not be self explanatory to others. Some people put everything in their own garage and do it by the name “Do it yourself”, People like who relies on other technical factors like lathe grinding, threading etc will have to be more vigilant in how to present their prototype. In a nutshell, i need to get my job done by others at the same time, people should not be aware of what we are creating. So i decided with maximum home made stuffs, like wooden boxes, etc.. The entire stuffs which i am presenting here is handmade by me. Few things which required lathe grinding and threading i had it done in local shops since the precision is required for my product, so i used to dictate what i want and the garage person will get it done.
A whole lot of thinking, mechanisms, ideas and trail errors were there in this model. This Mini lathe is driven by a DC powered RS 775, The chuck and all the couplers were designed for it. I can use this as Mini wooden/metal Lathe, Sander and Table Saw. The necessary fittings were designed for the respective use of it. The final outcome is 100% satisfaction.
Some buy the Mini Lathe at shop, Some people like me design and make on their own. Let me tell you things that i bought didn’t last long time but things that i created is still standing 🙂
